Quoting SJ Transport
Formed by Steve & Josie Allard, the company originally focused solely on transport management services, supplying a number of companies including Mansfield's, Gavigan Paving Ltd, & Radnor House School. Early in 2023, we as a company expanded and began to offer a consultancy services, initially assisting people with O Licence compliance and FORs Accreditations we have since expanded again and started working along side CPC Training (Kent) Ltd and can now offer Driver CPC training and Transport Manager Refresher Training along with OLAT courses.
Common Problems
Operators who find themselves in various states of non-compliance for any number of reasons. it is not just careless or burdened operators who can find themselves answering DVSA’s questions – some reputable and well-managed businesses can fall into a regulatory pitfall.
DVSA estimate that up to 85% of roadside prohibitions would have been avoided, had the driver performed an adequate daily walk round check. However, many companies have no system in place.
Growing numbers of contractors will only work with businesses who can evidence their operator licence compliance through their Operator Compliance Risk Score or accreditation from bodies like FORS; and with DVSA remote enforcement now in full swing, a request to supply safety documentation could arrive in your inbox at any time.
Two of the top reasons that companies use our services:
They are too busy running their main business to focus on optimising their operator licence compliance. Or they are not fully conversant with the legislation associated with their operator licence.
Services Provided
Regular compliance visits, Driver Training, Tachograph analysis, FORs Accreditation. Online licence management of Self-Service and OCRS accounts
How We Can Help
Having dealt with DVSA for many years, we can help you address any shortfalls before incurring any regulatory action. We will help you with effective systems to ensure operator licence compliance, above all we want to help you go beyond merely complying with the undertakings of your licence and help you reap the benefits of operating at a consistently high level. Going beyond compliance can bring many benefits including reduced costs, new business opportunities and reduced risk to the public.
Compliance Audits
Every transport manager is fully aware that they operate in a highly complex and highly regulated work environment. Both UK and EU laws cover everything from the hours that drivers drive to the mechanical condition and load condition of their vehicles. Traffic Commissioners, the DVSA, police forces and the HSE are just some of the organisations that have responsibilities for maintaining and raising standards of commercial vehicle operators and subsequently policing them.
That’s why many transport managers welcome outside expertise such as a consultant, to help them improve their level of regulatory compliance.
Specialist’s consultants are all highly qualified transport professionals and experienced auditors. They will comprehensively analyse all aspects of an organisations transport operations and provide a report which details any non-compliance and both poor and good practice.
Recommendations will be made to improve standards where relevant and assistance will be provided to help the organisation implement any subsequent action plan.
A regulatory compliance audit or consultancy service is suitable for a number of different types of organisation. We have helped companies that have had issues with the DVSA or Traffic Commissioners and are under instruction to improve their standards (including some whose operator licence was under threat).
As an IOTA member we can assist companies who just want to check their compliance levels are up to date.
We help transport operators gain FORs (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) accreditation, demonstrating their commitment to safety, efficiency, and environmental standards.
